Wimm-Bill-Dann acquired Surgut City Dairy Plant

MOSCOW -(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2006--Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods OJSC (NYSE: WBD), the leading Russian food and beverages producer, today announced the acquisition of 100% charter capital of Surgut City Dairy Plant (Russia), the largest milk processing enterprise in its region.

The plant is the only large-scale dairy factory in Surgut and was originally put into operation in 1974. It currently has a designed capacity of 65 tons of processed milk per day with the possibility of expansion to 120 tons per day. Today the enterprise processes up to 30 tons per day and its output consists mostly of traditional dairy products.

The acquisition of Surgut Dairy Plant allows Wimm-Bill-Dann to gain a leading position in a promising region and continue its expansion in the markets of the Urals and Siberia. Having its own enterprise in Surgut, the company will be able to optimize its expenditure on logistics by reducing the need to transport products between regions. In the near future, Wimm-Bill-Dann plans to begin production under its own brands at Surgut Dairy Factory.
