All in all, during 2015 repair campaign in Orenburgenergo, branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, (a member of Rosseti Group) it is planned to clear from trees and scrubs a territory with the total area exceeding 530 hectares. "To improve efficiency of the equipment, we perform preliminary preparation of the territory: RES team passes along the route collecting litter and unrooting big trees. After this preparation, while using a mulcher, in a day we clear up to 2 hectares of line routes on average," Mikhail Poletaev, Head of Perevolotsky RES, the Central Electric Grids, Orenburgenergo Branch, said. "In cases when the performed work involves disconnection of power transmission lines, we inform the public of it in advance: employees of the RES visit settlements and villages, explain reasons for disconnection at rural gatherings; a notice of each disconnection is given to heads of selsovets (community councils), and announcements are placed." Clearing of corridors of high-voltage power transmission lines is required by the branch Regulations for the Design and Construction of Electrical Installations and legal acts of the Ministry of Forestry. Moreover, long-term experience shows that clearing of line routes within the corridors of the power transmission lines helps to avoid falling of trees on the power transmission lines and, therefore, to prevent major damage and long-term interruptions in power supply to consumers.
