The plan of Mordovenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, involved 218 main measures and 77 additional measures aiming to ensure safe operation throughout the fire season. To improve fire safety, Mordovenergo's specialists removed vegetation and forest residues in rights-of-way corridors for 6-110 power transmission lines. Repair and production facilities of the branch and 35-110 kV substation were cleared of dried grass, rubbish and flammable materials. Dried grass was also removed around 10/0.4 kV transformer substations. Last September, Mordovenergo's personnel made fire dikes around substations located in the areas affected by forest and ground fire hazards. This May, the branch plans to renew fire dikes around 112 substations of 35-110 kV. Power specialists checked the condition of oil drain system and emergency oil receivers connected to transformer and oil-filled equipment, and condition of all hydrants and fire cocks installed at Mordovenergo's facilities. For quick response to emergency situations, the branch formed and trained 85 mobile teams (450 persons). All emergency response teams and repair teams were equipped with fire extinguishers and fire fighting tools. The branch launched 5 stations accommodating fire fighting equipment in the Ardatovskiy and Zubovo-Polyanskiy electric grid districts, Kovylkinskiy, Krasnoslobodsky and Saransk Production Departments. At the present time, primary fire fighting equipment was made available for all production facilities and vehicles of emergency response teams and line crews. As of the beginning of the fire season, Mordovenergo has movable backup electrical power sources. The branch established close cooperation and communication with Mordovian territorial EMERCOM departments.
