Chuvashenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (subsidiary of Rosseti, JSC) pursues a large-scale campaign intended to clear right-of-way corridors from trees and shrubs which may cause operational irregularities at power facilities. Chuvashenergo cleared 263.4 ha of power line routes (the annual target value is 437.8 ha). In particular, power sector specialists completed vegetation management works at the following 110 kV power transmission lines: Venets-Poretskoe, Alatyr-Shemursha, Gorodskaya-1-2, Zavolzhskaya-Yandoba, Zavolzhskaya-Katrasi, Cheboksary-1, Sundyr-1,2, Kanash-Tingovatovo, Kanash-Buinsk, Batyryovo-1,2 and Tyaga-1,2. The campaign is still under progress at the following power transmission lines: Druzhba-1,2 and Kanash-Tyurlema (110 kV), and Sovetskoe-Alikovo, Katrasi-Chandrovo, Vurmanskaya-1,2, Kildyushevo-Shimkussy and Batyryovo-Shimkussy (35 kV). The works at 110 kV power transmission lines Tingovatovo-Tyurlema and Alatyr-Shemursha are performed by contractors. State-of-the-art technologies are widely applied to handle the task. Mulcher machinery used at each Chuvashenergo's Production Department consideraby increases the speed of clearing process with complete slash disposal. This technology, with the wood pulp being mixed with the top soil, offers the most environmentally friendly solution. The entire cycle of cleaning, mulching and removal of wood chips can be done in a single step. Apart from vegetation management activities along the ROW corridors, the power engineers of the branch take every effort to raise public awareness, reminding of safe practices of behavior in the areas along and adjacent to the overhead power transmission line corridors. In accordance with these safe practices, it is strictly forbidden to carry out any activities that might disrupt the normal operation of electrical grids or cause damage. In particular, it is strictly forbidden to store petroleum, oil and lubricants, grass, fuel wood or other combustible materials, obstruct access to the electrical grid facilities or make fires under the transmission lines.
