RUSAL, one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, today announced the appointment of Dmitry Shulga as corporate communications director. Mr. Shulga will be responsible for the company’s relations with the Russian and international media as well as with industry organizations.
Mr. Shulga will supervise implementation of RUSAL’s strategy in developing its identity in the global marketplace. He will further oversee development of RUSAL’s communication programmes to make sure they best meet the company’s goals.
Biographical details Born in 1963, Dmitry Shulga graduated from the Interpreting department of the Moscow State Linguistic University. He later acquired a Master’s degree in literature and communications at Northern Iowa University. He worked as press attaché on behalf of the Russian Federation delegation at the United Nations in New York, having previously worked as first secretary in the international organizations department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. From 2002 to 2004, Mr.Shulga was head of communications for the Moscow office of Mars Inc, having previously occupied similar positions at the Moscow offices of the Coca-Cola Company (2000-2002) and General Motors (1998 – 2000). In these positions, Mr. Shulga was responsible for governmental relations, media relations, crisis management and marketing PR.
Mr.Shulga speaks fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese.
