Synthetic Isoprene Rubber plant is one of the most power-consuming production facilities at Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc. To reduce utilities and feedstock consumption, in 2000 here was started commissioning of a one-stage isoprene synthesis unit. The process was based on the technology developed by “NEFTEKHIMSTART” Ltd., Yaroslavl City . In 2001, the unit was redesigned basing on the technology offered by “Evrokhim-SPb-Trading” Ltd. with plant specialists taking part. To-date, 20% of the Plant's isoprene is produced per this technology. Application of this process contributed to feedstock rate reduction by 20 kg/t of isoprene and to essential reduction of heat energy consumption.
At present, “Soyuzkhimpromproyekt” Institute is designing a higher capacity one-stage isoprene synthesis unit. That will make it possible to reduce heat energy consumption by 30 %, feedstock rate by 25 %.
