Expensive triethylaluminium (TEA) is used as catalyst at alpha-olefin production unit at oligomer plant. Its solution in C10 and C14 cuts is fed into reactors.
In June 2000 based on recommendations of Research and Development Centre concentration of TEA was increased from 20-25% to 40% in order to gain the yield of target alpha-olefin cuts (C8-C18). According to the Project 100% catalyst supply was provided for but it was rather explosive and production unit safety level was more important than profitability indices.
The increase of catalyst concentration has resulted in reduction of its consumption rates, gain of quantity and improvement of quality of the product produced. More than one million roubles have been saved due to the reduction of catalyst consumption rate.
