At the VIIIth International Vehicle Exhibition in Moscow “Motor Show-2004” KAMAZ Inc. will exhibit its latest models featuring the most perspective trends in development of its vehicles.
Basic models of vehicles presented at MIMS-2004 are currently actively promoted to the Russian and foreign markets. Experts and visitors of this exhibition will be the first to witness and estimate the improved design of a new model range of KAMAZ vehicles, their upgraded technical features and performance characteristics. At MIMS-2004 KAMAZ Inc. will present its following main products:
KAMAZ-5460M prime mover of 4x2 wheel arrangement
A KAMAZ-5460 prime mover truck of 10,5t capacity at the fifth-wheel device and 40t g.v.w. was first introduced to the market as a serial model in 2002. Last year this vehicle became the first among the latest KAMAZ models to initiate direct international long-distance haulage to Europe. Leading Russian companies, such as for example MosOblAvtoTrans Inc., are now actively operating this prime mover. In June-July a KAMAZ-5460 truck powered with EURO-2 engine participated in transcontinental “Lisbon-Vladivostok” marathon.
In the mean time, KAMAZ designers have already developed an advanced version of this truck - KAMAZ-5460 M. Among one of its main design features is that this truck is powered with a KAMAZ origin diesel engine of EURO-3 emission level.
The design of the truck has been completely changed and now it has a shorter base, a reduced height of the fifth-wheel device, which now makes 1100 mm, a hypoid axle, and front disc brakes.
This prime mover has a so called “channel type” cab with an air suspension. The cab’s interior and exterior have been face-lifted and it in general became more comfortable.
The vehicle’s design ensures use of both domestic and exported components and meets requirements of Russian and international legislation in force applicable for vehicles of this class.
KAMAZ-65225 prime-mover (6x6)
This is one of the most powerful among KAMAZ heavy-duty trucks. It is specially designed for transportation of loads on any roads by vehicles with a rated 13t axial load. All-wheel drive KAMAZ-65225 is operated as a part of a road train with a 59,3t g.v.w. Rated load on the fifth-wheel device (which is a cast part with three degrees of freedom) is 17t. The truck is powered with the latest most powerful 740.50-360 diesel engine of KAMAZ origin. It is equipped with a turbocharger and intercooling of supercharged air, and has stroke to diameter ratio equal to 120x130 mm. The engine has a capacity of 360 hp and max. torque of 150 kgf*m at 1200-1400 rpm of the crankshaft. KAMAZ-740.50-360 engine meets EURO-2 international emission standards.
While assembling this prime mover there were used some imported components, such as: a ZF 16S 151 mechanical transmission, a mechanical 2-speed ZF Steyr transfer case of VG 1600/300 version. Due to certain design characteristics of this truck i.e.: all-wheel drive, application of more powerful parts and components and 12.00R 20 tyres with increased capacity of its protector it became possible to operate this truck on off roads.
KAMAZ-65225 prime mover of 59,3t g.v.w. makes 80km/h min.
NefAZ-5299-21 city bus powered with a gas engine
This is the first bus of KAMAZ and NefAZ joint production that is powered with a gas engine. The bus fits 98 passengers and has 20 seats.
A KAMAZ-820.53-260 gas engine with a turbocharger and cooling of supercharged air is powered by natural gas (methane), which is compressed up to 200 atm ensuring rated 260hp capacity at 2200 rpm of the crankshaft, and 95kgf*m max. torque at 1300-1500 rpm. Natural gas is stored in 990 liter bottles, two of them (315 liter each) are located at the rear of the body, and the others - on the left side of the chassis. This is enough to cover 450 km.
The bus is mainly equipped with advanced domestic components for trucks and buses, however there are partially used some foreign parts too, such as a “RRT” steering wheel hydraulic booster of integral type manufactured in Serbia-Montenegro, or an automatic hydromechanical transmission, etc.
There are used rigid-axle type air suspensions: the front one rests on two pneumatic elements with two telescopic shock-absorbers and one body leveling regulator, the rear suspension rests on four pneumatic elements with four telescopic shock-absorbers and two body leveling regulators.
Inside of the bus is heated by four heaters operating from the cooling system of the engine and also an independent gas heater supplied by WEBASTO.
