The first russian bus powered with a gas engine assembled at NefAZ

Environmental security today is one of the major problems, especially for big cities, suffering from vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions.

That’s why, development of environmentally friendly technologies, including automobile industry, is an acute subject. Experts have long ago confirmed that the future belongs to vehicles powered with gas engines.

NefAZ, which is a bus assembly plant in Neftekamsk, is the first and so far the only manufacturer in Russia that powers its city buses and coaches with gas engine. KAMAZ-820.53-260 gas engine has successfully passed certification procedures, and NeAZ-5299-21 bus has got an “Approval of a vehicle type”.

Thus, Russia has designed the first mass-produced domestic bus that is complying with European emission standards. NefAZ-5299-21 is a bus for megapolises. It will be presented at Moscow International Motor Show (MIMS) at the end of August.

If to take into consideration that methane is three times cheaper as compared with diesel fuel, and that a bus is recouped approx. in 20 months period, it becomes obvious that a new bus powered with a gas engine is incredibly cost effective.
