On working meeting between Alexey Miller and Zhanseit Tuimebayev

Today, Gazprom’s Headquarters have hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation.

The parties held talks over further integration deepening in the gas sector, particularly discussing Kazakhstan’s natural gas processing & marketing as well as gas deliveries to Kazakhstan’s consumers.

The participants of the meeting highly appreciated activities conducted in all cooperation spheres of the gas sector.

Within the negotiations, the parties shared common opinion on the urgent preparation of all documents for creation of the Russian-Kazakh joint venture.

Reference:

Kazakhstan’s natural gas assured resources approximately account for 2 tcm and forecast resources including Caspian Sea Shelf is equal to 8.3 tcm.

Last years gas extraction in Kazakhstan is about 12 bcm with internal annual consumption estimated for 5 bcm. In regard to the Program on Kazakhstan’s Gas Sector Development, by 2020 Kazakhstan plans to buoy up annual gas production to 40 bcm with possible export volume expansion.

Russian- Kazakh cooperation in the gas sector is regulated by the following intergovernmental agreements: Agreement On Technical and Economic Cooperation and Integration in the Oil and Gas Sector of February 25, 1997; Agreement on the Gas Sector of November 28, 2001.

In June 2002, on parity basis Gazprom and KazMunaiGaz created and registered the joint venture KazRosGaz on the territory of Kazakhstan for gas purchases, marketing as well as processing at Russia’s GPP and etc.

The basic cooperation spheres between OAO Gazprom and Kazakhstan’s business entities are the following:

  • Processing of the Karachaganak gas condensate field resources at Orenburg GPP;
  • Transit of Kazakh gas ( provided for CIS countries) by Gazprom’s subsidiaries via the territory of Russian Federation;
  • Russian natural gas supplies to the Kostanai Region, Kazakhstan;
  • Transit of Central Asian gas via the territory of Kazakhstan with increasing volumes in respect to long-term agreements signed.
