On meeting of Coordinating Committee for Cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens AG

The town of Gorno-Altaisk hosted today the 13th meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens AG, co-chaired by Alexander Shaikhutdinov, Deputy Head of the Gazprom Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department and Dr. Dietrich Moeller, Vice President of Siemens AG, President of Siemens AG Russia.

The meeting addressed the progress in the implementation of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership and the issues of further collaboration in the oil and gas area.

The Coordinating Committee members and the Working Groups heads delivered presentations on crucial issues of bilateral cooperation in power generation, LNG production, energy saving and environmental protection as well as in offshore projects.

The parties expressed a unanimous opinion that cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens AG was developing intensively and efficiently, and had a promising future.

Background:

Gazprom and Siemens AG have been cooperating since 1993 within telecommunications and technology process automation projects. In particular, the companies created a Moscow digital communication zone and data transmission network – Gazsvyaz, an automatic telephone exchange network – Kaspiygazprom and a communications network – Gaztelecom as well as automated a comprehensive gas treatment unit at the Yamburg field.

For the time being, Gazprom and Siemens are developing their cooperation in the following directions: innovation development, automation, IT, telemechanics and telecommunications; power generation; compressor station equipment; offshore oil & gas field development technologies; facility and building security systems; energy saving and environmental protection; novel medical technologies; project financing.

On April 3, 2008, Gazprom and Siemens AG signed an Agreement on Strategic Partnership.
