On meeting of Commission for Field Development and Subsurface Use

Today Gazprom has hosted a meeting of the Gas Industry Commission for Field Development and Subsurface Use. The meeting was moderated by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Head of the Commission.

Attending the meeting were Vasily Podyuk, Member of the Gazprom Management Committee, Head of the Gazprom Gas, Gas Condensate and Oil Production Department, and heads and specialists of Gazprom’s core business units, industry research and design institutes.

The Commission reviewed and approved the Shtokman Gas and Condensate Field Project Updates developed by experts from VNIIGAZ due to a considerable increase in the gas reserves and a change in the field geological model.

The participants considered field development options, scrutinized a project viability assessment and brought forward new effective technological solutions approbated in the world offshore field development practice and capable of providing high development efficiency, namely wells with the construction ensuring the packline; underwater upstream compounds; remote control of the development process and upstream facility operation.

Located in the central deep-water part of the Barents Sea 650 km north-east of the city of Murmansk, the Shtokman gas and condensate field is unique by the reserves as well as represents the most studied promising structure of the group of the fields forming a Russia’s new gas production province in this area.

The Shtokman field license is held by Sevmorneftegaz, which is a Gazprom subsidiary.
