Moscow, 8 February 2005. Today, the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais and the Murmansk Region Governor Yuri Yevdokimov visited the Kislogubskaya tidal power plant*.

During the visit, Anatoly Chubais said, "It is not merely the first tidal power plant restored in Russia. In fact, it is the world's first orthogonal hydroelectric generator at a tidal power plant created by Russian researchers." The Chairman of the RAO UES Management Board also noted, that "the power plant is still to undergo pilot operation, but the parameters that are evident today may prove to be a real, large-scale breakthrough, not only nationwide, but, without exaggeration, even on the world level."

Anatoly Chubais added, "Russia has fantastic possibilities for the construction of several new tidal power plants of unique capacity. If the technology used at the Kislogubskaya power plant confirms the projected performance, this means that we will be able to implement projects unique in their scale".
