North-West Telecom operating activity totals in the Komi Republic for year 2004

In 2004, the proceeds of the NWT’s branch Svyaz of Komi Republic increased by 19.5 % and comprised RUR 1 666.8 million.

The volume of investments of North-West Telecom JSC to the communication facilities in the Komi Republic comprised RUR 531 million. 45 thousand new numbers were put into operation, of them 33.7 thousands – to replace the obsolete telephone capacity.

In 2004, digitalization of all district centers of the Republic was completed. By the results of 2004, the level of digitalization of the urban telephone communication was 73% and rural – 22%. In 2005, it is planned to increase this level to 78% and 28 %, respectively.

Active telecommunication construction allowed decreasing by 9% the number of unmet applications for telephone installation. The telephone density index in 2004 comprised 29.6 telephones per 100 inhabitants. The total installed network capacity of the subsidiary was 311 thousand numbers.

The volume of long-distance calls as compared with 2003 increased by 16% and of international - by 8%. In 2005, it is planned to increase these indices by 13% and 2.5%, respectively.

The number of the “Free Internet” service users increased by 20 % and comprised 23.2 thousands of subscribers. A significant increase of the subscriber’s base is planned in 2005.

In 2004, the range of services provided by the branch expanded: the inhabitants of the Republic received an opportunity to use the wide-band access services including the use of xDSL technology. In Syktyvkar, the Center for calls processing with a unique set of services combining the work places of operators of 09, 009 and long-distance services began operation. By means of this center, the televoting and telemarketing services are provided.

Branch Svyaz of Komi Republic was the first to transfer to a new management system Oracle e-Business Suite, which undergoes now test operation. The system optimizes management of the branch, replaces the account complex BEST and makes automated the process of accounting formation.
