RUSAL confirms new managing director for sales and marketing

Moscow, February 24, 2005  RUSAL, one of the world's leading aluminium producers, today announced the appointment of Peter Finnimore as Managing Director, Sales & Marketing.

Mr. Finnimore joined RUSAL in July 2003 as Head of Marketing and Contract Services and in March 2004 took on the additional role of Managing Director for the overall marketing function on an interim basis. That appointment has now been confirmed. The position, reporting to the CEO, carries responsibilities for the group's primary aluminium and alloys sales and its marketing strategy worldwide.

Before joining RUSAL, Mr. Finnimore worked for seven years with leading international mining company Rio Tinto Plc occupying increasingly senior positions. His broad international experience is helping RUSAL to respond to rapid change within the global aluminium market and successfully realize its ambitious growth plans.

 

Biographical details

Mr. Finnimore graduated from the University of Queensland, Australia, with degrees in Commerce (1985) and Law (1988). After graduation he worked as a tax adviser with international accountancy Price Waterhouse for two years. He spent the next four years as a business analyst at the Iwasaki Electric Company in Tokyo, where his main responsibility was provision of commercial and legal support for 15 overseas subsidiaries, review and analysis of financial statements, market analysis, reviewing of all contracts.

From 1996 to early 2000 Mr Finnimore worked in Planning and Business Systems roles at Port Waratah Coal Services (a Rio Tinto subsidiary), ultimately as Manager (Planning), responsible for coal chain logistics.

Starting in 2000, Mr. Finnimore worked for three years as International Sales Manager  North Asia for the Australian aluminium company Comalco (also a part of Rio Tinto), completing for the company a number of major sales contracts in the Japanese and Korean markets.

Mr. Finnimore, Australian-born and raised, is married with two children.
