OJSC North-West Telecom took part in the Days of the Northwestern Federal District in the Republic of Austria that were held from 30th November till 3rd December on the eve of the meeting between Federal Chancellor of Austria W. Sch?ssel with RF President Vladimir Putin and on the threshold of Austria's presidency in the European Union.
The event was organized with the support of the UN Development Programme by the staff of the Authorized Representative of the RF President in Northwestern Federal District (SZFO) and by the Investment Agency (Development Agency) of the North-West in compliance with the programme of attracting investment to the regional sector of Russia's economy.
The Russian delegation, which consisted of about 220 members representing 11 federation entities of the district, included 9 heads and 2 deputy heads of administrations: M.E. Oseyevsky, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg; V.P. Serdyukov, Governor of Leningrad Oblast; V.Ye. Pozgalyov, Governor of Vologda Oblast; G.V. Boos, Governor of Kaliningrad Oblast; N.I. Kiselyov, Head of Arkhangelsk Oblast Administration; S.L. Katanandov, Head of the Republic of Karelia; M.M. Prusak, Governor of Novgorod Oblast; M.V. Kuznetsov, Head of Pskov Oblast Administration, and others. The delegation was headed by I.I. Klebanov, Authorized Representative of the RF President in SZFO. It was the first representation of RF entities of such a scale in Austria, and political and business circles of Austria have shown a keen interest in it.
During a conference, Business and Investment Capacities of SZFO, Ilya Klebanov gave a press conference, where he emphasized the significance and potential of the Russian-Austrian relations and the investment attractiveness of the district's regions. The Governors and Heads of Administrations and Republics of SZFO presented their regions, while managers of the leading enterprises spoke of their companies. During a presentation exhibition and a 'Contacts Exchange' the participants of the business delegation met investors and potential partners.
The telecommunications sector was represented by OJSC North-West Telecom as the biggest universal telecommunication operator providing services throughout the Northwestern Federal District. Vladimir Akulich, General Manager of OJSC NWT, met during his stay in Austria heads of the district's federation entities and discussed the course of Cooperation Agreements implementation with them. At meetings with western investors and representatives of a number of Austrian companies the top management of NWT discussed aspects of investment activities and issues of possible partnership.
