Moscow, 3 March 2006. Deputy Technical Director, Chief Technical Inspector of RAO "UES of Russia" Viktor Pauli and Deputy Managing Director of Business Unit No. 1 of RAO "UES of Russia" Ilyas Zagretdinov have received, as part of a research team, the 2005 Prize for Science and Technology from the Russian Government.

The Government has awarded the Prize to the researchers and engineering staff of the Moscow Energy Institute, the All-Russia Scientific Research and Development Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering, RAO "UES of Russia" and OAO "Moscow United Energy Company" (MUEC) for the development and implementation of engineering materials which help extend useful life and improve energy efficiency of equipment at thermal and nuclear power plants, and housing utility enterprises.

The set of technologies makes it possible to address the issues of heating equipment operation relating to the wear of functional surfaces of equipment, deterioration of heat transmission, gas- and hydrodynamic characteristics, and failure to meet today's requirements to the efficiency of the methods used to combat corrosion and erosion processes.

The technologies and solutions developed by the research team will improve the reliability and life span of energy equipment operation, increase environmental safety, and reduce R&M costs.
