Salavatnefteorgsintez inaugurates unique foamed polystyrene unit

Today, Salavatnefteorgsintez (town of Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan) has hosted the inauguration of an unparalleled in the world foamed polystyrene unit.

Attending the ceremony were Murtaza Rakhimov, President of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Alexander Ryazanov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee & Chairman of Salavatnefteorgsintez’s Board of Directors and Marat Ishmiyarov, Salavatnefteorgsintez’s Director General.

The foamed polystyrene unit was constructed under the Salavatnefteorgsintez’s Trust Management Program developed within the Salavatnefteorgsintez’s Trust Management by Gazprom Agreement that stipulates, in particular, innovative technologies being introduced for the production purposes.

The construction works were performed by Salavatnefteorgsintez, Sulzer (Switzerland) and the sci-tech company Promplast-14 (St. Petersburg).

The unit commissioning will make it possible to produce an environmentally friendly product applied in all the construction sectors and packing material manufacture. The fully computerized and automated 10 thou t/y unit uses Russian technologies in combination with foreign equipment lacking nowadays in Russia.

“The unit inauguration points to the Gazprom and Bashkortostan’s contribution into promoting a unique science-driven production process. We’re talking about additional jobs, increased amount of industrial output and tax revenues to the Republican budget.

Gazprom will keep on developing new capacities at Salavatnefteorgsintez,” – maintained Alexander Ryazanov at the inauguration ceremony.

Having been formed along with the construction of the town of Salavat (Bashkortostan), Salavatnefteorgsintez (Petrochemical Integrated Plant No. 18 before 1993) was founded in 1948 by the State Committee for Property Management of the Republic of Bashkortostan holding 53.92% of the company’s ordinary voting stock transferred under Gazprom’s trust management in pursuance of the 21.03.2003 Agreement.

Salavatnefteorgsintez’s core businesses are production and marketing of oil refining products, petrochemicals and fertilizers. The company produces over 70 items including gasoline, diesel fuels, kerosene, black oils, toluene, liquefied gases, butyl spirits, ammonia, carbamide, polyethylene, polystyrene, sulfur, a wide scope of plastic consumer goods, etc.
