Multimedia and multi-service network in Krasnodar

"UTK" PJSC is the first telecom operator in Russia to receive the certificate for MPLS multi-service network. Digital TV network is being deployed using Ethernet to the Home (ETTH) technology.  Cable TV network is equipped with facilities of reception and formation of the content (satellite channels, MPEG2, local TV) and operates above IP protocol. The existing STM-16 data network provides sufficient transmitting capacity. MPLS is used as a technological basis which is a specific feature of UTK’s cable TV in Krasnodar  different from solutions of other telecom operators – that is, quality of digital TV is combined with additional opportunities of connection to the existing modern data network. ??S is built using the equipment of the following manufacturers: Cisco Systems (USA), D-Link Corp. (Taiwan), OJSC "AlMet" (Ulyanovsk), Invacom Ltd (Great Britain), California Amplifier (USA).

The network capacity provides its subscribers with an opportunity to watch not less than 60 broadcasting channels (subscribers can view not less than five channels and simultaneously transmit data at a speed of no less than 10 Mbit /sec using IP protocol). Personal computers with network adapter supporting Ethernet protocol and appropriate software as well as usual TV sets with special Set-to-Box modules can be used as subscriber’s terminals. Connection to ??S can be also made using DSL2+ technology. Speed of data transmission via DSL2+ downlinks is 24-25 Mb / sec.

At present the following MMS services based on Ethernet-to-the-hom? technology (through twisted-pair cable) are offered in Krasnodar: multichannel digital cable TV; video upon request; high-speed Internet;IP-telephony.
The Company plans to deploy other MMS services based on Ethernet-to-the-hom? (through twisted-pair cable) and ADSL2 + technologies in addition to the above mentioned ones: construction of virtual private networks; games upon request; video conferencing; training at home; video control and monitoring; remote control of household equipment.

The planned network capacity is 40 thousand subscribers. The Company  plans to provide packages of cable TV services including social, basic, commercial and VIP packages. Development of multi-service networks will help to solve many intercity problems such as public security, infocommunication services for public utility enterprises, fire safety, support of educational system, etc. There are real customers connected with each of these problems. It means that "Southern Telecommunications Company" PJSC sees the development of multi-service services going forward.
