The Kremlin Palace in Moscow recently hosted the ceremony of awarding the winners of the IV All-Russian Contest for the title of a Russian Organization with the Highest Social Efficiency.
    On behalf of the Russian Government the winners were welcomed by the Russian Vice-Premier Alexandr Zhukov and the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Andrei Sharonov.
    MMK is again among the top Russian organizations with high social efficiency. The company was awarded a II Class diploma in the nomination of "Environmental Protection and Resource Savings", for the first time in its history.
    The contest has been held by the Russian Federation government since 2000 for the purpose of disseminating positive social work experience among Russian corporate entities and create incentives for the development of social partnership. During the four years of its existence the contest has become an important instrument for the public recognition of socially responsible business in the country.
    MMK has been taking part in the contest since its inception. In 2000 it was awarded a diploma "For Achievements in the Organization of Social Work". In 2001 MMK became a winner in the steel sector's nomination among other 5 steel mills. The following year MMK took the first place in the nomination "Personnel Qualification and Training and Re-Training System". Besides, in 2002 MMK took part in the sector's contest "An Enterprise of the Ore Mining and Steel Making Sector with the Highest Social Efficiency" organized by the Steel Makers' Association of Russia and the Central Council of the Mining and Steel Making Union of Russia, and won in the nomination "Remuneration of Labour and Social Monetary Benefits".
    In 2003 the All-Russian and the industry's contests were not held, and in 2004 MMK again became the winner of the industry's contest in the nomination "Personnel Qualification and Training and Re-Training System".
