In the rating, based on the year of 2005 results, Cherepovets steelworks was advanced by 360 points as compared to 2004 data. Apart from Severstal, the List of the World's Major Companies includes 12 Russian entities.

Unlike other ratings, where the companies are ranked on the basis of one criterion, the positions of the companies in the abovementioned list were defined according to the arithmetical mean of the following criteria: the total market capitalization, the revenues and profit level, the value of assets.
