Moscow, 12 April 2006. Today, RAO "UES of Russia" held a meeting with representatives of some environmental movements and organizations, such as Greenpeace Russia, International Social and Environmental Union, charity foundation "Centre for Wild Life Conservation", World Wildlife Fund (WWF), All-Russian Society of Nature Conservation, City Economics Institute Foundation, etc.
Among the issues addressed at the meeting were the environmental policy of RAO "UES of Russia" and its implementation philosophy. The focus was on the environmental impact of the investment projects carried out in the areas included in the list of top priority generation projects as adopted by Order of the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" dated 28 March 2006.
It was the second meeting with the environmental community representatives held on the initiative of RAO "UES of Russia". The first meeting took place on 4 April 2005, and paved the way for a broad dialogue between the Company and the environmental organizations. Now such meetings are going to become regular.
Expert opinions provided by representatives of the environmental community are of great importance from a perspective of ensuring compliance with the environmental laws and regulations when conducting feasibility studies and developing investment projects to build new energy facilities.
