Moscow, July 20, 2007. The Tender Committee starts considering the applications submitted by the participators to conclude the Agreement on performance of the Feasibility Study (pre-FS) regarding the Project of construction of the Kambaratinsk HPP-1 and HPP-2 on August 2, 2007.

The tender was opened in the late May and is held in accordance with the decision made on the intergovernmental level by Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. An ordinary partnership consisting of JSC INTER RAO UES, OJSC Elektricheskiye Stantsii (Kyrgyz Republic) and JSC KazKuat (Republic of Kazakhstan) was established in order to arrange the Tender. At that JSC INTER RAO UES represents the RAO UES of Russia holding and acts as the organizer of the Tender.

Each country has appointed 3 representatives which comprise the Tender Committee. The representative of JSC INTER RAO UES is the Chairman of the Committee.

It was initially expected that the application term would end on June 29, but due to the large volume of work and complexity of the Project the participators applied to the organizers twice with a request to defer the terms. According to the decision made on July 20, the application terms were deferred until 12.00 am on July 31 (Moscow time). The application envelopes will be opened at 12.00 am (local time) on August 2 in Bishkek.

It is expected that the results of the tender will be announced in late August. The precise date of the final session and place where it will be held have not been determined yet.

In the course of the Tender the participators were offered an opportunity to visit the Kambaratinsk HPP-2 which is under construction now, meet with the specialists and examine the available design and estimate documentation.

Kambaratinsk HPP-1, located in the Karabashsky site on the Naryn river, is designed to be the largest one among all the Kambaratinsk  HPPs facilities. The estimated capacity of the station will be 1,900 MW, its annual electric energy production is estimated to be 5.1 billion kWh.

Kambaratinsk HPP-2 is a step of the cascade of hydroelectric stations in the middle Naryn. The installed capacity of the station is 240-360 MW depending on the number and capacity of the installed pumping sets. Its annual electric energy production is estimated to be 1,050-1,148 million kWh.

The construction of the Kambaratinsk HPPs started in 1986. For the time being about 30% of the total construction and installation work has been executed.
