Moscow. 4 July 2006. According to recent updates, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased electricity generation in H1 2006 by 5.4% to 354 billion kWh from 335.8 billion kWh in the same period last year. During the period under review, energy consumption across Russia totalled 488,2 billion kWh, an increase of 4.5% from 467.1 billion kWh in the same period of 2005.
In H1 2006, the output of the thermal power plants (TPPs) of RAO "UES of Russia" amounted to 293.7 billion kWh, which represents an increase of 8.4% over the same period last year, while the hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) generated 60.3 billion kWh, down by 7.1% in year-on-year terms.
In June, the RAO UES power plants generated 46.8 billion kWh of electricity in April 2006, up 4.2% yoy. During the month, the hydropower plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 12.4 billion kWh, while the Company's thermal power plants produced 34.4 billion kWh. The country's electricity consumption in June grew 4.6% to 66.3 billion kWh from 63.4 billion kWh.
