Results of the working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov and Hiroshi Tada

Today at Gazprom’s headquarters Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman, Gazprom Management Committee, held a working meeting with Hiroshi Tada, Senior Executive Managing Director, Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

The parties approved the ongoing execution of the joint 2005 Action Plan and exchanged views on cooperation perspectives in implementing Gazprom’s Program on setting up an integrated gas production, transmission and supply network in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, including utilization of Mitsui & Co.’s technologies in establishing gas processing plants in Eastern Russia.

Particular attention was devoted to Gazprom and Mitsui cooperation within the framework of LNG production and supply projects.

Mitsui & Co. Ltd. was established in 1876 in Japan. It is involved in purchasing, sales, distribution, processing and storage of all kinds of energy industry products both in Japan and abroad, and in financial services.

Mitsui has been paying special attention to energy projects. The company owns stakes in oil and gas blocks in Western Australia, and is a participant in four LNG projects in Abu-Dhabi, Qatar, Oman and Western Australia. A 25% stake is owned by Mitsui in the new sizeable Sakhalin II.

The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery and Processing Plant overhaul is one of the largest projects in Russia that Mitsui & Co. Ltd. is involved in. The company is also trading non-ferrous metals, crude oil, fuel oil, petroleum products, supplying steel pipes and Komatsu construction machinery, among other commodities and products, to its customers in Russia.

Gazprom and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. cooperation commenced in 1993 starting with supplies of road construction machinery, pipes and drilling equipment. Mitsui participated in the Blue Stream project, where Mitsui’s pipes and equipment was utilized, and was also involved in the project financing.

Visiting Japan in April 2005, Gazprom’s delegation signed the 2005 joint Action Plan with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. stipulating top priorities for further feasibility studies.
