On October 1, 2004 OJSC Lensvyaz and OJSC Svyaz of Republic of Komi were excluded from the Single State Register of Legal Entities. The shares of the merged companies were converted into shares of OJSC North-West Telecom. Thus, the consolidation of OJSC Lensvyaz and OJSC Svyaz of Republic of Komi with OJSC North-West Telecom completed.
As the result of this reorganization, OJSC North-West Telecom provides a wide range of communications services, such as traditional telephony, documentary electrical communications, telematic services, data transmission services, Internet access etc., on the whole territory the North-West Federal District: in St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Novgorod, Pskov, Vologda, Kaliningrad Regions, Republic of Karelia and Republic of Komi.
Vladimir Akulich, General Director of OJSC NWT, commented on the event: “The reorganization of the North-West Federal District telecom operators and foundation of a unified operator providing services on the territory of the whole region will be positively perceived by the investment community. Now our strategic goal is to make the best use of the synergy effect of the merger, developing within the framework of the unified telecommunications company and expanding the range of services”.
