Electrosvyaz of Kaliningrad Oblast, a branch of OJSC North-West Telecom, has completed the upgrading of the two last decade-step exchanges in Kaliningrad Oblast, having spent 170,000,000 roubles for that purpose.
The ceremony of putting new digital telephone exchanges into operation will be held on 22nd December 2005 and will mark the 60th anniversary of the branch Electrosvyaz of Kaliningrad Oblast, which was founded on 30th December 1945.
Up-to-date digital equipment that has replaced the obsolete one has made it possible to increase the line capacity of these telephone exchanges by 2800 lines, bringing it to 22,800 lines. With the commissioning of the new exchanges, the total line capacity of the branch Electrosvyaz of Kaliningrad Oblast will exceed 203,000 lines.
On the same day, a fiber-optic communication line 38 kilometers in length will be put into operation in the Talpaki – Chernyakhovsk section. After the line is commissioned, all subscribers of Chernyakhovsky District of Kaliningrad Oblast will be able to use the services of access to the Internet and digital telephone communication more than before. The company has invested 18 million roubles in implementing this project.
