The Gazprom Headquarters today has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Management Board of UES of Russia.

The parties addressed the main issues of current interaction and gas supply to power generation companies in 2007.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming autumn/winter heating season. According to Alexey Miller, Gazprom is still committed to providing the power generation sector with the full amount of gas, as set out in the gas balance scheme for the UGSS of Russia.

Alexey Miller and Anatoly Chubais expressed a common opinion that reliable operation of the energy supply system, particularly during periods of low temperatures, was, to a larger extent, dependent on the strict fulfilment of Schedule ?1 stipulating a switch-over to standby fuels and on the availability of needed coal and fuel oil reserves at power generation facilities. The parties also discussed the possibility of optimizing gas consumption volumes required for heat and electricity generation in RF regions.

A focus was placed on matters surrounding the allocation of gas for new power generation capacities. Decisions on such facilities will be made with the account of economic viability as well as technical capacity of the Unified Gas Supply System.
