Moscow, 6 September 2005. The Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais will take part in the Third All-Russian Hydropower Conference* scheduled to take place on 9-10 September 2005 in the city of Zhigulevsk.

The Conference is being held on the initiative of Non-Profit Partnership "Gidroenergetika Rossii" ("Hydropower of Russia"), the Federal Hydrogeneration Company ("HydroWGC"), and RAO "UES of Russia", with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Samara Region Administration.

The Conference will be attended by representatives of virtually all hydropower construction and operation entities of Russia, energy companies, principal suppliers of hydropower equipment, scientific, research and development institutes specializing in hydropower, foreign hydrogeneration companies, and legislative and executive authorities on the federal and regional levels.

The Conference participants will jointly develop a package of measures to develop Russia's hydropower sector in a long-term perspective and ensure legislative support to the process.

Also, a science and technology exhibition will take place during the Conference. The exhibition will cover such topics as: hydropower and hydromechanical equipment, construction, operation, modernization, and repairs of hydraulic power facilities, as well as new materials and technologies.
