COMSTAR-UTS and Deutsche Telekom ICSS sign network interconnection agreement

14 October 2009, Moscow. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (OJSC COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, and Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), the international wholesale arm of Deutsche Telekom, have announced the signing of a network interconnection agreement.

According to this agreement, both carriers shall mutually transit and terminate international voice traffic via their telecommunication equipment and network facilities.

Subject to this agreement, COMSTAR-UTS has arranged a point of interconnection for its international network to the Deutsche Telekom network in Ancotel, one of the largest telecommunication network centers in the world located in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). COMSTAR-UTS obtains direct access to the whole international network and termination capabilities of the Deutsche Telekom.

“We are constantly expanding the list of our foreign partners in network cooperation. The agreement for network link and voice traffic transit we signed with Deutsche Telekom is extremely important to us. Thanks to Deutsche Telekom, we will be able to improve our long-distance communication network and provide maximum quality of service to our users,” Sergey Pridantsev, COMSTAR-UTS President said.

“COMSTAR-UTS is one of the largest Russian carriers, with MGTS being its affiliate and a base carrier of Russian capital. We are pleased that we are able to offer improved termination in Eastern Europe and strengthen our presence in Russia thanks to the agreement with our international partners. We will also continue to support COMSTAR-UTS in developing their telecommunications solutions,” Helmut Angst, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Telekom, ICSS, added.

Deutsche Telekom ICSS is among the top five global voice service operators according to the annual survey of ATLANTIC-ACM, the "Global Wholesale Long-Distance: Carrier Report Card 2005-2009." The company annually provides more than over 21 billion minutes of international voice traffic.
