Investors in People is a prestigious international standard awarded
by the non-profit organisation Investors in People CIC (based in UK).
The IIP standard evaluates the quality of work with personnel
according to nine criteria, including "leading and inspiring
people", "managing performance" and "creating
sustainable success".
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works applied for
Investors in People accreditation for the first time in 2021, and won
"gold" status on the first attempt, bypassing "standard"
and "silver", which testifies to the very high quality of
its human resources work. Currently, MMK is the only major Russian
company that has been awarded any level of Investors in People
accreditation, let alone "gold" status.
Based on the examination of MMK’s application
and interviews with managers of different levels (including CEO Pavel
Shilyaev) and rank-and-file employees in different departments, the
IIP experts gave MMK a score of 704 out of a maximum of 900 points,
which is above the average score for manufacturing companies (688
points). MMK received a particularly high score on the criteria of
"structuring work" and "creating sustainable success".
"Undoubtedly, we are delighted that the high
quality of HR management at MMK is now confirmed internationally,"
said Oleg Kiykov, MMK's Director of Human Resources. "MMK pays
great attention to our employees, our safety activities, social
guarantees and the development opportunities that we provide to our
employees - all this proves that we really are investing in people.
This is one of the guiding principles of MMK's work".
"Achieving gold, at your first attempt is
incredible," commented Investors in People, "MMK have
demonstrated consistently across all areas of practice, the
effectiveness of your people practices in place, your active
engagement, and a clear demonstration of tangible positive outcomes."
MMK actively works with its personnel, taking care
of their safety, providing employees with favourable working
conditions, social guarantees and opportunities for self-development.
One of the main goals set at the Company in accordance with MMK
Group's Development Strategy to 2025 is the development of a
corporate culture of opportunity with a focus on strengthening
employee engagement.
The Investors in People quality standard was
developed in 1991 in the UK with the participation of the
Confederation of British Industry and the British Trades Union
Congress. In 1993, Investors in People was established, which
develops and disseminates this standard and ensures its integrity and
quality. Since 1997 the Investors in People standard has gained
international status and is valid in more than 80 countries. The IIP
certificate is considered prestigious around the globe and increases
the attractiveness of any firm for both investors and employees.
