Today, Gazprom’s Headquarters has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman and Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Republic of Karelia.
The parties reviewed the implementation of an Agreement on cooperation, placing a focus on gas deliveries to Karelia’s localities adjoining the Petrozavodsk – Kondopoga gas line route.
Gazprom and the Republic of Karelia entered into the 5-year Agreement on cooperation in April 2005.
In 2004, the completion of the Petrozavodsk – Kondopoga gas main construction allowed Gazprom to deliver gas to the Kondopoga Pulp & Paper Mill and set the stage for meeting gas needs of Kondopoga, which is the second-largest city of the Republic of Karelia.
Last year, Gazprom provided Republican customers with over 400 mln m? of gas and roughly the same amount is slated for 2005.
Gas shipments to Karelia over 2005 have been paid up at 90.05 per cent. As of 1 November 2005, the Republican gas debt averaged RUR 44 mln, including over RUR 43.5 mln owed by Karelelectrogeneratsiya.
Gazprom is intent on promoting cooperation with the Republic of Karelia and plans to construct a gas main to the town of Volkhov within the Shtokman gas condensate field development.
