CenterTelecom Smolensk branch commissioned another section of a fiber optic communications line

Moscow, January 11, 2005. CenterTelecom Smolensk branch commissioned Safonovo-Dogobuzh-Vyazma-Gagarin fiber optic communications line with a branch to Novodugino extending for 220 km. The total length of fiber optic communications line in Smolensk region has reached 500 km.

Commenting on the commissioning of the new stretch of the fiber optic communications line, CenterTelecom Smolensk branch first deputy general director Mr. Alexander Shairco who was in charge of the acceptance committee pointed out: "It is important for us to be capable of installing modern electronic exchanges along the trunk line. Broadband Internet nodes have already been installed along the line, and subscribers use ?DSL Internet".

CenterTelecom Smolensk branch is designing a new fiber optic communications line ring from Dorogobuzh to Elnya with a branch to Glinka and further to Desnogorsk and Roslavl and then to other populated areas of the region's south. The total length of the line being designed will equal 500 km.
