On 15th –16th January, 2005 President Alexander Nichiporuk together with a team of other ALROSA senior executives made a working tour of the Company’s diamond operations located in the Arctic region of Sakha (Yakutia).

His visit to the Anabar ulus (i.e. administrative district) started with Yakutia’s northernmost township of Yuryung-Haya. High on the agenda of the President’s meeting with the community activists were the problems of the township’s development, creation of new jobs, nature conservation and environmental protection for the Arctic. On the same day the ALROSA President visited the Anabar Division operations: the mobile ore processing plant, mining camp at the Istok placer, No.13 ore treatment facility, heat and gas utilities in the township of Ebelyakh.

At his meeting with the management and technical personnel of the Anabar Division Mr. Nichiporuk underscored the necessity of detailed program to reduce production costs.

In the district administrative center of Saskylakh at another community meeting the ALROSA executive team discussed the company’s further involvement in the development of the Anabar ulus. The final destination was Olenek where speaking before the local administration, industry and community representatives the President of ALROSA reaffirmed the plans for expanding cooperation with the community.

The President will continue his working tour of the company’s diamond operations in West Yakutia later this week.
