Samara Distribution Grids, a Branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, is reconstructing the main feedng center of Kuybyshevsky district

Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) is carrying out reconstruction of Volzhskaya-2 110 kV substation in Kuybyshevsky district of Samara. Upgrading of this main feeding center providing electricity for one of the largest districts of Samara will allow the company to increase the output of the substation from 50 MVA up to 126 MVA. This measure will not only ensure the technological connection of new customers, but also significantly increase reliability of power supply for the existing ones including Samara Municipal Systems, LLC, sewage treatment facilities, plant “Neftemash”, agricultural area Volgar and residential district Volgar, the construction of which is being conducted to implement the Presidential program on residential housing construction for military men. The works are conducted according to the investment program of the branch. Within the framework of this overall reconstruction 25 MVA power transformers will be replaced with their modern equivalents with total output 126 MVA, and 110 kV oil switches will be replaced with environmentally safe sulphur hexafluoride switches. It is planned to install remote-mount current and voltage transformers of 110 kV, 110 kV disconnectors with motor drives and excess voltage suppressors, replace construction structures of 110 kV outdoor switchgears for package equipment, install equipment for 6 kV indoor switchgear and relay protection and automation devices. The new building of the substation control house will be combined with the indoor switchgear. Specialists of the substation will reconstruct oil traps, oil drains and oil receivers of power transformers. Control and feeder cables of the substation equipment will be replaced. To ensure failure-free switchover operations, switching devices of 110 kV outdoor switchgear will be equipped with electromagnetic locks. Besides, new equipment will be deployed to support the automatic system for commercial accounting of power consumption (ASCAPS) designed to provide the increased accuracy of metering and revenue accounting of cross-flows of electricity in the power grids. Reconstruction of Volzhskaya-2 110 kV substation is performed under normal operating conditions ensuring a continuous power supply for consumers. To ensure continuous power supply for consumers during reconstruction activities at the substation, specialists of the company deployed and connected a 110 kV mobile substation. Reconstruction completion is planned for 2014.
