Later, the companies plan to extend their cooperation and connect 23 more branches of VTB24 to this network. A VPN roll-out tender for Saint-Petersburg VTB24 branch was held in November 2008. COMSTAR-UTS offer was considered along with other operators’ options. Based on the tender results, given the assessment of technology and economic pre-requisites combination, the Tender Commission announced COMSTAR-UTS as the winner. Another argument in favor of this choice became the optimum time frame proposed by the operator for this project to be implemented. COMSTAR-UTS Saint-Petersburg branch has already started to fulfill their contractual obligations for the network roll-out. The operator shall organize data exchange secure channels over IP protocol leveraging the resources of existing Next Generation Network (NGN) owned by the operator. “VTB24 tender win is a one more significant step in the development of COMSTAR-UTS on a corporative communications market in Saint-Petersburg. VTB24 bank is one of the largest banks; therefore, the requirements for security parameters, network capacity and reliability of the communication system used are very stringent. COMSTAR-UTS NGN network fully complies with such requirements. We are sure our cooperation with VTB24 shall be fruitful and mutually beneficial”, Denis Kramarenko, COMSTAR-UTS Saint-Petersburg branch Commercial Director pointed out. It is not for the first time COMSTAR-UTS experts are being involved with building of the corporative data communication network for banking institutions in Saint-Petersburg area. Earlier this year the operator has already started to implement VPN roll-out projects for “Probusinessbank” (https://www.comstar-uts.ru/ru/press_center/news/index.php?from4=18&id4=493) and “Tavritchesky” Bank (https://www.comstar-uts.ru/ru/press_center/news/index.php?seed=40310&from4=8&id4=625). The architecture for secure communication facilities used by COMSTAR-UTS results in highly scalable virtual network with an option to increase its capacity and a range of the services rendered, depending on the extent of territorial presence and variation of the client business requirements.
