On 29th and 30th September, during the InfoCom-2005 exhibition, in the framework of explanatory work and fighting the so-called "dictated communication services", North-West Telecom will hold workshops, "Methods of Safe Work in the Internet"

Specialists of OJSC North-West Telecom will tell the participants about the technology of Internet traps and about the algorithm of international connections during the work of users in the Internet.

This topic has been chosen because of the growing number of complaints from subscribers of OJSC NWT's branches related to incautious behaviour in the Internet and the growing amounts of telephone invoices presented for international calls. Clients do not recognize such invoices and deny the fact of their giving any international phone calls to the numbers stated. In most cases such subscribers become victims of "dictated communication services", unconsciously buying various baits of Internet traps, which may include photos, video clips or references to sites with doubtful content. Among subscribers, such victims are mainly school sophomores and students of secondary special and vocational educational institutions, who are not very experienced in the Internet.   

North-West Telecom considers that it must warn all its subscribers against such risky carelessness. During the exhibition, specialists of the Company will give a presentation about Internet resources normally housing the "traps", about the methods of fighting illegal connections. about the legal aspect of the "dictated" communication services and about the steps taken by the Company to reduce the number of such incidents.

North-West Telecom invites all travellers in the World Wide Web to attend the 'Methods of Safe Work in the Internet' workshops that will be held at 15-00 during the InfoCom-2005 exhibition at the Company's stand in the 8th pavilion of the Lenexpo exhibition complex in the Gavan.
