ALROSA: presenting Russian diamonds at IJT

The ALROSA delegation continues its work at IJT 2005 - International Jewellery Tokyo. On January 27-28 around 2.5 thousand people visited the Company’s booth. Representatives of some 50 companies from different countries were able to view the display, including the polished diamonds offered for sale at an auction to be held by ALROSA jointly with the Tokyo Diamond Exchange on 31st January.

Yesterday the heads of the delegation met Chairman of the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and Eastern Europe (ROTOBO) Mr. T. Takagaki and Executive Councillor of the Japanese Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) Mr. K. Watanabe.

IJT- 2005 stands apart among six largest annual international jewellery fairs. The ALROSA representatives noted a clear trend indicating the revival of Japan’s jewellery market. The evidence of this is the IJT participation dynamics: in 2004 there were 1200 exhibitors from 31 countries, while in 2005 - 1350 exhibitors representing 35 countries.

The Organizer and the exhibitors of IJT have expressed a high opinion of the efforts by ALROSA to prepare its presentation on the Japanese market. If in 2004 the Company was among the IJT visitors, this year its booth was among the most prominent at this representative international industry event. According to the ALROSA senior executives representing the Company at the IJT, the participation in this fair will serve to efficiently promote the image of ALROSA, maintain and strengthen ties with its business partners, and enable to receive the information on the market in a very condensed form.

The Company’s presentation together with the polished diamonds and jewellery display allowed Japanese diamantaires to get detailed knowledge of the ALROSA mining production, status and development prospects, as well as see and admire its end product - polished diamonds. IJT visitors have marked the high artistic value and quality of the polished diamonds and jewellery on display, including pieces from the ‘Diamond in the Russian Avant-Guarde’ Collection.

Tonight the ALROSA delegation is giving a dinner in Tokyo for the representatives of the Japanese business community and public.
